I started here as your parish minister on 31st January and I had to hit the ground running! It has been a fantastic five months with many highlights. To name but a few, there was the baptism of two little boys Ben and Joe and the wedding of their parents Donna and Bruce, two very happy lively events, and the family’s become a welcome and much valued part of the church community.
Then the Easter services were wonderful; on the last day of term we had a grand visit to the church from the school when we also welcomed the children’s families and friends to the service. On Easter Day the church was filled with folk, all there to celebrate this special day, and that we did in fine style!
There have been some sad days too as we remembered those who had died, particularly Mrs Sheila MacCuish who was the gracious and much loved minister’s wife at Caddonfoot for many years.
It was a privilege to do the Kirkin’ o’ the Braw Lad and Lass, and a pleasure to meet Alice, Clovenfords’ second braw lass in three years – as well as her Braw Lad, Gavin! The Gathering was a fine spectacle. Now that I know what to expect, I hope to share it with family from furth of the Borders next year.
Recently my husband Ewen and I took time off to climb Windlestraw Law, and rewarded ourselves afterwards by sitting outside the Clovenfords Hotel and enjoying a drink. If the weather stays fine we hope to repeat the experience! Maybe we’ll meet some more of you there – if so, please come over and say hello – we look forward to getting to know you.
May God bless you with much love and much joy!
