Clovenfords Broadband Survey 2015

Clovenfords Magazine has once again run a survey of broadband speeds within the area, following the news that a superfast fibre optic connection is now available. We found that only 27% of those who took part have yet upgraded to fibre optic broadband. Based on a relatively small sample size, we calculated average download and upload speeds for those on the old technology as 5.2 and 0.5 Mbps. For those on fibre, there is a significant increase to 35.1 and 11.3 Mbps. The overall averages, 14.5 and 6.2 Mbps, are less meaningful given the different technologies, but show that we are a great way forward from the 3.8 Mbps average download speed found by our broadband survey of three years ago. Speeds can still be variable, even with fibre broadband, but we would recommend all households look into the options available to them for upgrading to superfast fibre. Thank you to everyone who took part.
