Community Council Scheme Review

Residents in the Scottish Borders have until 23 April to have their say on the Review of Community Council Scheme 2025.  The consultation asks residents for their feedback and suggestions on how the Community Council Scheme can be improved along with the 69 Community Council Handbooks.

The public consultation Review of SBC Community Council Scheme 2025 can be accessed on Citizen Space an online platform for community engagement until 5pm on 23 April 2025.

All local authorities must provide a Scheme for Community Councils, which outlines their governance arrangement and includes details of the Community Council areas.  Community Councils are voluntary organisations set up by statute by the local authority and run by local residents to act on behalf of the area. To remain current, and reflect good practice, it is important that the Scheme is reviewed.  Residents can also feedback in writing by accessing hard copies of the consultation at contact centres or by contacting Scottish Borders Council Democratic Services, Council HQ, Newton St Boswells, Melrose, TD6 0SA
